| Working Principle | 1. Priming Initiation: When the pump lever is pulled upward (suction stroke), the diaphragm expands, creating a vacuum in the pump chamber. The inlet valve opens, drawing fuel from the tank through the fuel line/filter screen into the chamber. |
| 2. Fuel Delivery: Pushing the lever downward (compression stroke) compresses the diaphragm, increasing pressure in the chamber. The inlet valve closes, and the outlet valve opens, forcing fuel out of the pump into the fuel lines/high-pressure injection pump. | |
| 3. Air Purge: Repeating the lever stroke displaces air from the fuel system (air exits via bleed screws on the fuel filter housing or injection pump) until a steady stream of fuel (no air bubbles) flows out – indicating the system is fully primed. | |
